| Hello and welcome to the Blue Beacon! Happy Labor Day!
Today we celebrate the importance of the labor movement in the United States. This movement has created laws and standards for safe and rewarding work across the country. The Democratic Party stands with labor. We recognize that unions are still our best path to fair wages and working conditions. Democratic legislators continue to fight to support labor with Colorado laws. Democratic City Councils also work with labor as we manage our cities. It matters who we elect to office.
Labor Day is also when the election season gets into full swing. There is a very important election this November and now is the time to get involved. Plan at least one day to canvass for your local City Council or Mayoral candidate. See the JeffCo Dems Candidate page to find out who is running in your city.
The Eleanor Roosevelt Dinner will be September 28. We are pleased to announce that U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin will be our headline speaker. We will also be honoring former County Commissioner and former State Representative Tracy Kraft-Tharp with the Eleanor award. Early Bird Pricing has been extended till September 7. Purchase Tickets
We continue to encourage all those who are interested in their community and having good, compassionate government to attend City Council, County Commissioner, and School Board meetings. This is your opportunity to make your voice heard. These meetings are on the JeffCo Dems Calendar and listed below. Too often, it is only hateful voices at these meetings. The good Democrats who serve in these elected offices need to know they have your support for progressive policies.
