Spotlight on LL and MM Ballot Measures |
|
|
The Colorado Democratic Party endorses both of these amendments to keep kids fed. Passing LL and MM will: Continue free school meals for over 600,000 Colorado students. Direct funding to buy fresh, local food from Colorado farmers and ranchers. Support better wages and training for frontline school nutrition staff.
Protect access to SNAP for more than 300,000 Coloradans facing federal cuts.
Without these measures, Colorado’s Healthy School Meals for All program could end for many schools as early as January 2026, risking kids’ nutrition and families’ food security.
Anya Rose from Hunger Free Colorado joined us for Second Saturday to discuss LL and MM. You can see that video here. |

Spotlight on Get Out the Vote in JeffCo |
|
|
|
Off years like this see very low turnout. The JeffCo Dems are committed to getting out the vote this year. We’re reaching thousands of Democrat-leaning voters through our texting program, reminding them to turn in their ballots. Just $50 sends 4,000 texts and could make the difference in these close local races.
If you can, please donate to GOTV today to help us reach every voter we can. Let’s make sure every Democratic voice is heard. |

The Lockwood Foundation - Making Adventure Accessible
What is community? Is it as simple as city blocks and formal governmental boundaries, or is it the people within the community gathering together despite differences to make major change in the space around them? What drives individuals to come together to make our neighborhood stronger.... I charge you with the idea that hope is the great unifier. Hope is a fundamental instrument in our democracy. What makes us Americans is our unified belief that we can build a better world together with our very own hands. That is the democracy of action.
The Lockwood Foundation is a community of over a thousand volunteers in Colorado that rally to ensure that every Coloradan has a place in the mountains and in our society. Hundreds of big hearts every month pushing, pulling and even carrying adaptive trail wheelchairs to ensure that equity and inclusion are not afterthoughts but the primary drive for our vision of Hope. Our flavor of Hope is one that allows everyone, including family, friends, neighbors and colleagues of all abilities to share beautiful mountain experiences together so that we can connect our hearts and values. American values center around the idea that despite our individual differences and unique potential, ultimately we are working together to create an environment where we can all thrive.
8 years after our conception, we have served hundreds of individuals and families, now have a community center in Golden, a dedicated staff, and partnerships with amazing organizations like Children's Hospital and HopeKids. We are even working on a design for our own trail wheelchairs. This organization started as a community that gave their heart, time, and energy to create opportunities for everyone to thrive. This community lives and breathes equity and inclusion, as well as the American dream of Hope.
