It is Caucus and Assembly season! I want to thank Danielle Varda for holding Camp Campaign and giving me an opportunity to do my first of many, many Caucus/Assembly trainings. Feel free to attend a training before you register for Caucus. The full schedule is below.
Caucus will be March 7, 2026, and County Assembly will be March 14, 2026. Both will be virtual. Plan on spending a few hours at each. If you are a Precinct Organizer, your term ends on March 7, and we hope you will run again to continue in the role.
Tickets are still available for the 2026 Italian Feast (details below). We are just thrilled to be honoring Carl Hamm as our volunteer of the year. Carl is the chair of our Veteran's Initiative, and the best volunteer you could ask for. This has been another tough week for the country and Jefferson County. The Blue Beacon is a hopeful publication, so we don't focus on these atrocities, but that does not mean we're immune to them. CAUCUS REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN! The Jefferson County Democratic Party Caucus will be virtual on March 7, 9:00 a.m. check-in Are you ready to register for Caucus? You will need to indicate your plans for three things:
Do you want to be a Precinct Organizer? Do you want to be a County Assembly Delegate? Do you want to be a State Assembly Delegate? These decisions are NOT FINAL You can change your answer at Caucus or County Assembly. To register for Caucus, go to JeffCoDems.Org. You will have to enter your address and look up your precinct to get the Zoom Registration Link. |

Some JeffCo Dems have received Phishing emails that say they come from Kathryn Wallace. What is phishing?
Phishing is a deceptive technique where cybercriminals pose as trusted entities—like your bank, a popular online retailer, or even a friend or colleague—to trick you into sharing sensitive information or spending money. At its core, phishing is a form of social engineering. Instead of hacking a computer system directly, attackers "fish" for data by sending fraudulent messages designed to lure you into taking an action, such as: - Clicking a malicious link.
- Downloading an infected attachment.
- Voluntarily providing passwords, credit card numbers, or social security details.
- Buying gift cards
Why is it Dangerous?
Phishing exploits human psychology rather than technical flaws, leading to:
- Identity Theft: Attackers use your data to commit crimes in your name.
- Financial Loss: Scammers can drain accounts or trick employees into unauthorized transfers.
- Malware & Ransomware: Clicking a link can install software that spies on you or encrypts your files.
- Purchasing gift cards or sending money that will go to criminals and not the person you were asked to send it to.

How Can I Spot a Phishing Email? Look for these telltale signs: -
Sense of Urgency: Threatening language like "Immediate action required" to make you panic.
- Mismatched Addresses: The sender's name looks right, but the email address is slightly off.
- Suspicious Links: Hover over links to see the actual destination URL before clicking.

Requests for Gift Cards: Be extremely wary if someone—even a boss or friend or family member—asks you to buy gift cards and send them the codes. This is a common tactic because gift cards are like cash and nearly impossible to trace once the codes are shared.
- Unusual Attachments: Be wary of unexpected files like .zip or .exe.

Caucus and Assembly Training
Whether you’re new to the JeffCo Dems or a seasoned member, we all have questions. There are plenty of opportunities ahead to learn about the upcoming Caucus and Assembly. Every session will be hosted on Zoom and everyone is invited!
