| Hello and welcome to the Blue Beacon!
Happy spring! The days are steadily getting longer and I am looking ahead to when I will be out canvassing and literature dropping. I hope you will be joining me. One thing all canvassers and lit droppers know is how wonderful trees are. They provide shade to get out of the sun and be able to see your phone. I had this on my mind a year ago when I planted a tree in my front yard. It made it through the winter and is now budding. What a great metaphor for the work we are doing right now. We are planting seeds with our volunteers and nurturing them so they will be in full bloom in the fall. In April this means training for our Captains and newly elected POs. Keep your eye on your email for those dates.
If you are not a Precinct Organizer or Captain, but would still like to help, please join us for a general volunteer training at Second Saturday on April 11. See below. Things have slowed down since the Assemblies, but in some ways, the work is just getting started. I look forward to joining you all as we move into the election season. In Solidarity, Kathryn Wallace, Chair Jefferson County Democratic Party |

JeffCo Veterans Meet With Congressman Jason Crow |
|
|
On Monday, March 30, several Jefferson County veterans attended a reception for Congressman Jason Crow. Congressman Crow represents the 6th Congressional District. He is a former Army Ranger. He completed three tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan as part of the 82nd Airborne Division. JeffCo veterans were present at the reception held in Aurora by long time supporters Bill and Debi and Hunter Holen. A number of well known local office holders were there as well. Former congressman Ed Perlmutter was a sponser among others. At one point Congressman Crow spent several minutes discussing veteran related issues concerning veterans and we ended with a picture of our group.
Pictured below, left to right, is Army veteran Congressman Jason Crow, Army veteran Tom Hoffman, Navy veteran Carlos Bernal, Air Force veteran and former Golden City Councilman Jim Dale, and Army veteran Carl Hamm, Chair of the JeffCo Dems Veterans Initiative (VETI). |
